Following in the footsteps of Facebook and Google, Twitter is also contemplating banning all cryptocurrency advertising from its platform.
The updated advertising policy stands to prohibit promotional content for initial coin offerings (ICO), token sales, and cryptocurrency wallets globally, according to a report from Sky News. The new rules might come into power as early as the first week of April.

Since its inception in 2005, YouTube has grown into a sprawling community of content creators. For nearly any topic you can imagine, there is anywhere from a single channel to a massive network of channels devoted to bringing you regular content on that topic. YouTube is now the largest video hosting service on the internet.
Somewhere along the way, someone discovered you can make good money from YouTube. Every time an ad plays before a video, some of the revenue from that ad goes to the owner of that channel, the content creator. Today, countless people have turned YouTube into a career: quitting their day jobs and living off ad revenue, donations and sponsorships. However, that lifestyle is being threatened by YouTube itself in a time dubbed the “Adpocalypse.”
In the past year, YouTube has started to crack down on content that is “unsuitable for advertisement:” i.e. violence, swearing and offensive or sexual content. The only problem is that 400 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. This amount is difficult to moderate. So, YouTube relies on AI, or artificial intelligence, and algorithms to flag sensitive content.

Just stop. Please stop. Yes, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. I get that. However, this time you’ve gone too far.
It all started when you introduced hashtags and trends, which used to be features of Twitter alone. I understand. You needed to stay relevant. Social media was evolving without you. Granted, you were the first platform to offer live streaming. Kudos to you for that achievement. But now? You’ve reached the point of no return.

Facebook is dead or very clearly dying and I know that because I probably helped kill it with my loud rants like a knock-off superhero with supersonic yelling powers. We Facebook users rant in an attempt to scream into the void. But all Facebook users got by screaming was screaming into an echo chamber of politics where everyone already agrees with them. And they learned nothing from it. Nor have you.

Todd Johnson is a former Trump campaign state director in New Mexico who joined the Department of Defense in 2017 as an advance officer, a Pentagon employee with the sensitive task of providing logistical support related to the secretary's events and appearances domestically and abroad. Johnson had a pay scale of GS-14, typically reserved for senior civil service positions.
A CNN KFile review of his social media found that Johnson posted birther conspiracies about then-President Barack Obama and shared a video that claimed Obama was the Antichrist.

Twitter has been in the news several times over the token system it uses to control the number of users any third party client can have. The popular Android client Flamingo, has now been removed from the Google Play Store due to reaching said limit. The app became one of the more popular clients used by those who do not enjoy using Twitter's own app. The app includes multiple themes, a pop up preview mode and other features that are not included in the official Twitter app. Unfortunately, this week their success caused them to reach the limit and the app was unpublished. The app developer, Sam Ruston did note that those who have previously bought the app can still download it from their My Apps section of the Play store.

People have been claiming that Twitter has been dying for the past several years. Despite having more than 300 million monthly active users, predictions of the platform’s death only seem to be escalating as the years roll on.
A few years ago, people began to suspect that Twitter was just a fad, and as recent as earlier this year, analysts have been cautioning marketers, users, and investors to prepare for Twitter’s inevitable demise.
But wait a second—Twitter still has more than 300 million monthly active users, and remains one of the biggest social media platforms in the world. If things are so bad with the platform, why is it still alive? And why are people preparing for it to die? Here are four reasons.
1. Limitation
One of the original draws of the platform was, counterintuitively, the strict limits it placed on its users. Twitter only allowed you to post 140 characters’ worth of information. Even now, that limit exists, but with a recent upgrade: now, images, videos, polls, and other non-text information doesn’t count toward that 140-character limit.
Still, Twitter use is fairly straightforward. Sharing images and videos has become commonplace on most platforms, and text updates are the same on Twitter as they are on other platforms, but with a character limit. It doesn’t take much to see why users fail to favor Twitter over its contemporaries, which offer more flexibility by simply not imposing such limits.
2. Lack of Innovation
Overall, Twitter hasn’t changed much over the years. It’s added some new features, some more flexibility for its posts and its users, but for the most part, it’s the same platform it was when it launched over a decade ago.
Compare that to Facebook, which has seen multiple major overhauls, and sees frequent regular updates with everything from newsfeed algorithm changes to design makeovers. You can also compare it to more cutting-edge apps like Snapchat, which have changed how people communicate with each other.
3. Obsolescence
Twitter’s platform is also starting to border on the verge of obsolescence. Communicating in brief, written messages was innovative back when smartphones were still in their infancy, but now, there are more sophisticated ways of communicating, whether you’re trying to appeal to an individual or an entire group of people.
4. Spam and Abuse
It’s no secret that Twitter has a major problem with spam and abuse, and has had one since the early days of the platform. Though Twitter has made a number of public efforts to improve its ability to detect spam and, in response, eliminate the offenders, it still isn’t enough to stop the spam accounts from rising and taking action. It’s relatively easy for hackers and spammers to create and automate new accounts, in everything from creating posts to liking and engaging with real accounts.
Of further concern is how Twitter is being used to house armies of zombie-like bot accounts who only awaken to hammer the platform with political messaging and artificially influence trending topics to twist public perception of the truth.

Someday when historians remember the first few decades of the Internet, one of the strangest anecdotes will be the surprising endurance of Yahoo.
The once powerful search engine was dealt yet another blow in its efforts to rebrand itself this past week, when its latest earnings report revealed that the company is now essentially worth “less than nothing.” How could this happen? According to CFO Ken Goldman, most of it has to do with the company’s efforts to enter the streaming market with Yahoo Screen. Yahoo lost $42 million on its reboot of Community and the platform’s other two original shows—and have subsequently canceled another upcoming sitcom. Following its dismal earnings announcement, CEO Marissa Mayerdeclared, “As we move into 2016, we will work to narrow our strategy, focusing on fewer products with higher quality to achieve improved growth and profitability.”
