Muslim London Mayor Sadiq Khan announced the addition of a knife control crusade to curb the endemic crime rate –after nearly 100 years of gun control enforcement in the city – but his recent move to lower searches he called “Islamophobic” could be responsible for the spike in violent crime.
“Strangely enough, Khan is responsible for decreasing the number of stop-and-searches, having previously declared the tactic racist and potentially Islamophobic,” the Daily Wire reported.
Call for reversal
But stabbings have become so rife in London that Khan has been pushed to re-think his pro-Muslim policy.
“London’s homicides are largely being committed with knives, so the Mayor is increasingly focused on controlling knives and is granting police ‘extra stop and search powers for areas worst-affected by knife crime,’” Breitbart News announced.
So now, London’s first Muslim mayor is using gun control rhetoric to fight the endemic knife problem in the city.
“No excuses: there is never a reason to carry a knife,” Khan tweeted Sunday. “Anyone who does will be caught, and they will feel the full force of the law.”
Criminal activity is nothing new in London, and stabbings with knives are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to violence in Britain’s largest city.
“[In October, it was] reported that rapes in London were three times higher than in New York City,” Breitbart’s AWR Hawkins informed.
And the rise of murder in London has consistently topped the Big Apple’s homicide rate on a monthly basis this year.
“London has seen a dramatic uptick in murder rates – surpassing even New York City in the number of homicides every month since the beginning of 2018,” the Daily Wire’s Emily Zanotti announced. “It has some of the strictest gun control laws in the world, and, technically, knives carried ‘without good reason’ are off limits to anyone under the age of 18.”
Yet the recent slew of stabbings in London has redirected attention to knives – not the Muslims and other criminals wielding them. And the fact that terrorism has spiked by 50 percent in the big city – with the recent London Bridge massacre and Manchester concert bombing resulting in mass casualties – is being overlooked by Khan as he focuses on knives.
“An epidemic of stabbings and acid attacks in London has gotten so bad that London mayor Sadiq Khan is announcing broad new ‘knife control’ policies designed to keep these weapons of war out of the hands of Londoners looking to cause others harm,” Zanotti announced. “The ‘tough, immediate’ measures involve an incredible police crackdown, a ban on home deliveries of knives and acid, and expanding law enforcement stop-and-search powers so that police may stop anyone they believe to be a threat, or planning a knife or acid attack.”
Khan went so far as to make a public announcement that he and city officials are doing all they can to take knives off the streets – mentioning nothing about the profiles of those who are maliciously brandishing them on London’s streets.
"[The city of London has created a] violent crime taskforce of 120 officers; tasked with rooting out knife-wielding individuals in public spaces, and is pumping nearly $50 million dollars into the Metropolitan Police department so that they can better arm themselves against knife attacks,” Khan announced in a London.gov government statement issued Friday. “[I am also empowering the Met Police to introduce] targeted patrols with extra stop and search powers for areas worst-affected."
More problems than just knives
Knife control will reportedly do as little good in London as its augmented gun control measures did before the beginning of the new millennium, as the U.K. was declared “the most violent country in Europe” in 2009 – just 12 years after the island nation passed its stringent Firearms Act. It was also reported less than a decade ago by a British daily that the country had a higher rate for every type of violence than the United States.
“Britain's violent crime record is worse than any other country in the European union, it has been revealed,” the Daily Mailreported in July 2009. “Official crime figures show the UK also has a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and even South Africa – widely considered one of the world's most dangerous countries.”
The London daily shared sobering statistics disseminated by the European Commission and the United Nations.
“The UK has the second highest overall crime rate in the EU [and] it has a higher homicide rate than most of our western European neighbors, including France, Germany, Italy and Spain,” the Daily Mail divulged from the reports at the time. “The UK has the fifth highest robbery rate in the EU [while] it has the fourth highest burglary rate and the highest absolute number of burglaries in the EU – with double the number of offences than recorded in Germany and France.”
It went on to name Britain as the most violent of the 28 nations in the European Union, which it declared as a shocking revelation.
“In the UK, there are 2,034 offences per 100,000 people – way ahead of second-placed Austria with a rate of 1,677,” the British daily added. “The U.S. has a violence rate of 466 crimes per 100,000 residents, Canada 935, Australia 92 and South Africa 1,609.”

Yesterday London united to commemorate the terror attacks of 2017 that killed 14 innocent people.
However, the question has to be asked, do we feel any safer a year to the day that Khalid Masood mounted the pavement on Westminster Bridge injured 49 people and killed five including PC Keith Palmer who was stabbed to death outside the Mother of all Parliaments? Whilst you think about that question also ponder another one, is London really united, or is the capital and indeed the UK more divided than ever?
The day was organized by the Muslim Mayor of London Sadiq Khan and is just the latest event designed to show terrorists that we will not be swayed, cowed or defeated by their murderous ways.
